Development Research Seminar by Professor Jennifer Clapp, Canada Research Chair in Global Food Security and Sustainability and Professor in the School of Environment, Resources and Sustainability and the Balsillie School of International Affairs at the University of Waterloo.

On 14 May 2018, Professor Jennifer Clapp will give a Development Research Seminar entitled 'Mega Mergers on the Menu:  Corporate Concentration and the Politics of Sustainability in the Global Food System'.

The recently announced mergers among some of the biggest players in the agricultural input industry underline the extent to which the sector has come to be dominated by a small number of giant firms. Growing corporate concentration in the food sector has given rise to intense debate about its implications, including for the environment.

In this talk, Jennifer Clapp will provide an analysis of these latest debates and their significance for the politics of sustainability in the global food system.
