(Daniela) D Andrade

Biography

Daniela Andrade has dedicated much of her energy into the study of rural poverty and agrarian development. She has a degree in agronomic engineer and has been trained in social science research. She holds a Master in Environmental Science from the University of Sao Paulo (USP, 2003) and an MA in Agricultural and Rural Development from the International Institute of Social Studies (ISS, 2009). She has committed four years of intense work and activism with the ‘Landless Workers’ Movement’ (MST - Sao Paulo, Brazil) and other three years among rural communities in the ‘Ribeira Valley’ (State of Sao Paulo). She currently lives in the Netherlands, where she began a doctoral program in PER- AES, in the spring 2013. She is interested in analysing the patterns of agrarian change in Mozambique, sponsored by the Brazilian and Mozambican states through a cooperation programme for agricultural development, at the same time, understanding the global economic and political conjuncture which imposes on their agricultural strategy choices.
